About Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Forces : Bangladesh Ansar & Village Defence Party (VDP) is a paramilitary force and voluntary organization in Bangladesh responsible for maintaining internal security, assisting law enforcement agencies, and supporting community development initiatives. It is one of the largest forces in the country and operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Established on 12 February 1948 as the “East Pakistan Ansars” under the East Pakistan Ansars Act. After the Liberation War of 1971, it was reorganized and renamed Bangladesh Ansar in 1976. In 1980, the Village Defence Party (VDP) was integrated to enhance community security and rural development.
